You may know Remi Wolf from her song “Cinderella,” with its insidiously catchy chorus about “me and the boys in the hotel lobby.” She brought all of that energy to her Hinterland performance in 2025, starting with that song and keeping the party going. In addition to songs from her previous two albums, we were treated to a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” and some raunchy stage banter. If you were there, you almost certainly had a lot of fun!

It’s important to bring this all up because Remi Wolf has a new record coming this fall, and the newest single is pretty harrowing and depressing. “Bottle” is about the continuing challenges Wolf has faced on her sobriety journey. She checked into rehab in 2020, shortly after the pandemic began, and was sober for several years. Wolf acknowledges she’s not sober now, and she gets very honest about it on this song.

The song paints a clear picture of someone who is still coming to terms with the role that alcohol and substances play in her life, and the challenges of doing so while trying to make a living as a musician — a profession that famously makes it difficult to lead a healthy lifestyle. There’s a lot to dig into lyrically, but when she sings “I'm off and on and off again / On and off and on again / I can't get the bottle if I don't get up,” that kind of says it all.

“Bottle” is the second single from Remi Wolf’s upcoming album, Mud. The previous single, “Twiggy,” is just as vulnerable and emotional, and it really has us looking forward to the full album. Until then, both singles are streaming, and Mud is available for pre-order.
