Cece Mitchell
Host and Community Events CoordinatorHi there! I'm Cece Mitchell, On-Air Host and Community Events Coordinator here at Studio One.
I'm here to bring you great music throughout your day, on-air and in-person.
From festivals to shows just down the street, I'm here to let you know about the shows coming through your town.
I love uplifting local voices and showing young women of color (especially you in the rural areas!) they can make it in media too!
If you spot me tabling a concert, in the crowd or at a Studio One event let's connect!
My favorite Iowa music destinations:
- Octopus in Cedar Falls
- xBk Live in Des Moines
- Gardner Lounge in Grinnell
My entries in the "best songs of all time" list:
- "The Winner Takes It All" by ABBA — ABBA has some of the most beloved songs of all time, and this one's my favorite because it manages to be heart-wrenching and triumphant at the same time
- "Vienna" by Billy Joel — This song perfectly captures the nostalgic melancholy parts of life going by fast and really sums up the experience of being a 20-something woman
- “Imagine” by John Lennon — "Imagine" captures a lot of the peaceful sentiments of that generation and era and overall offers a timeless message that can resonate with people from so many backgrounds
- Plus so many honorable mentions!
What I consider the best music (auto)biographies and memoirs:
- Long Strange Trip — documentary about The Grateful Dead
- The Woman In Me — memoir by Britney Spears
- Summer of Soul — Questlove documentary about the Harlem Cultural Festival
